To get into your cells and give you energy, glucose requires the hormone insulin. Your body also uses insulin to store excess sugar as fat. Lower insulin levels make it favorable to burn fat. Fruit contains a unique sugar called fructose that DOES NOT require insulin to get into the cells of your body. This is good news for everyone, and especially for diabetics.
