Why Protein Is Essential In Your Diet
And Which Protein Is Right For You
Why is Protein Important in your diet?
Protein is essential, with the term "essential" meaning that you must consume protein rich foods in your diet or else you could risk a deficiency disease or even death. With the exception of water, protein is more plentiful than any other substance in the human body. All tissues, bones, and nerves are comprised mostly of protein. Your muscles, blood, skin, hair, nails, heart, brain and internal organs use protein as their primary building material. Collagen, which is a special type of protein, is important for strong arteries, tendons, ligaments, teeth and connective tissues.
Stay Mentally Alert
A diet rich in protein and lean on carbohydrate can help produce dopamine and norepinephrine, two powerful brain chemical neurotransmitters that keep you alert and mentally powerful. If you have a tendency to procrastinate, put things off, lose focus, and lack motivation, your diet could simply be too high in carbohydrate and too low in protein. (For more on alertness and protein, please read my booklet, "The Power of Protein" (coming soon).
You Save Time…
Protein is plentiful in chicken, fish, turkey, egg whites, and beef. Unfortunately, our nation is preoccupied with carbohydrate foods, so most fast food restaurants and convenience stores focus on selling carbohydrate treats, not protein snacks. And, because most of us are busy, we can find it inconvenient to drag around a cooler with cans of tuna, chicken breasts and beef patties for use as a meal or a snack. Instead of eating properly and including ample protein in our diet, we often grab a burger and fries, or a soda, or a candy bar when we are on the go. This eating on the run habit has created a nation of overweight individuals who possess high levels of bodyfat and low levels of energy. But now you can have the convenience of PROTEIN, anywhere, anytime!
Protein Powders to the Rescue!
In 1990, the Jay Robb Corporation created its now famous
Egg White
Protein, and then in 1994 we created our famous Jay Robb Whey
Protein. Then in 2000 we introduced our instant Jay Robb Soy Protein powder that offered vegans and vegetarians a very tasty source for getting adequate protein without eating meat.
How to Skip the Mess…
We developed our protein powders primarily for convenience. I personally don't enjoy carrying around a can of tuna, or a chicken breast. Plus, if I am driving somewhere, eating protein foods can be messy and time consuming. I needed a way to get a great tasting, convenient, high quality protein into my body on a daily basis.
The Great Taste Makes it So Easy…
Protein drinks were not new to me. I had used my own special versions of them back in the '60s and '70s to enhance my swimming performance, and to help me beef up for bodybuilding. Back then, there were no great tasting protein powders on the market, so in 1990 we began creating outrageously delicious protein powders and presented them to the world. They were an instant success! Now active individuals could get enough protein into their body each day without gagging down a gritty, chalky tasting protein drink. In fact, our protein powders taste so good, everyone looks forward to his or her next drink!
Which Protein is right for you? Whey, Egg or Soy?
Choosing the right protein is CRITICAL. We produce three sources of protein powders for a very clear and distinct reason. Our Whey, Egg and Soy protein are all very high in protein, have no added sugar or sweeteners and taste delicious.
If You Tolerate Dairy Products…
We produce Whey protein for individuals who tolerate dairy products and prefer a great-tasting high quality protein from dairy sources.
If You are Allergic to Dairy Products or Lactose Intolerant…
We produce Egg protein for individuals who are allergic to milk, allergic to dairy products and/or are lactose intolerant. Gas, bloating, stuffy nose, sinus drip, irritable bowel problems, excess mucus and clearing of the throat can all be signs of dairy intolerance.
If You are Vegan or Vegetarian, and Want the Properties of Soy
We produce a great tasting Soy protein for individuals who do not want to consume animal products for their source of protein. Our Soy protein is also rich in isoflavones and hormone enhancing properties inherent to soybeans.
How to Use Jay Robb's Protein Powders
You can stir them into plain water or milk for a delicious instant protein lift. Or, in a blender, you can mix up fantastic protein drinks that can rival traditional milk shakes and ice cream treats!

Traveling? No Problem!
When I am traveling, or on my way to go surfing, I often blend up a protein drink, pour it into a shaker bottle and take it with me so that I can have protein whenever and wherever I desire. I use frozen fruit so that the drink is cold and keeps while traveling. I also will place it in a small insulated zippered cooler with a frozen ice pack if I will be on the road for more than two hours.
Vacation? No Problem!
When I go on vacation with my family, we always pack a blender and bring our shaker bottles so we can have our protein anywhere and everywhere…the beach, the mountains, the desert or even when camping.
